#1- About Bible Readers Reading Enjoyment Being Enhanced

I’ve read the Bible, most of my reading has been done with the New World Translation, of 1984 with footnotes and cross references. BUT I also have looked into the King James Version, NIV (New International Version), and others over time. For me the reading of the Bible has developed as I’ve grown over time, but just today I received my first copy of a Bible that was ordered chronologically.

Because of buying it on eBay I originally posted a review just based on what I found from looking through that book. BUT my original complaint wasn’t posted… I’m so glad because after reading through the facts I later learned some of the problems of that book were added into my commenting as praises which were inaccuracies. Now the correct comments are shared because of taking a little more time to assess the accuracy of that version of the Bible.

What Chronological Bible?

The 2013 Bible, is actually a great book… It’s the One Year Chronological Bible and it has many reading values.

It’s not too small OR too large.

General Book Style To Read

It is a really nice read, the paragraph & spacing style of the printed pages allow readers to associate the material with any other books that aren’t Bibles OR college material of the 2 column type. The material format and print size, between 10 & 12 font, mean that it’s easier to read than the smaller print Bibles.

The author’s have taken the time to work on this book as is seen with how the material is compiled and shared.

Ordered Timewise Chronologically by Events

It’s great that the Bible was reordered from the canonical style, ordered from Genesis to Revelation classically by books that have chapters and verses.  There is a reference to the canonical ways of the Bible at the end of this version. It includes references to this chronological style with page numbers listed near the canonical/ classical references that are shared with this Bible.

In addition with the chronological information it adds the timeframes for readers of when the events happen through the reading. As you can see in the slightly tilted image below:

Reading this Bible

This chronological Bible has the sections separated into 365 days of reading starting with January 1st, but NO ONE HAS to read the Bible that slowly OR at those times OR even in that order. But this writing by Tyndale has shared for us a way to read through most of the Bible with a lot more insight into the historical nature of the scriptures. It’s styled based on Biblical events as they happened, as I put onto the cover with my noting, but not with how OR when they written.

This should make for a great time-a-logical writing, but there is more readers can do for reading accuracy.

Time-A-Logical Reading

I appreciate that they compiled the material with aspects like the timeline of events with Judah and Israel that includes the writer’s lives over those times. The writing time references they used, the additional historical notes and details that are added as references, plus footnotes that allow readers to find more info about the scriptures as they read. The yearly timeline shared doesn’t need to be used at all for great reading through this book. BUT as you can see I need a readers way to get to sections of those timelines, so the addition of flags and tags was made for me on my addition.

Can be Used with Classical/ Canonical Bible’s Also

While it’s not ordered canonically it does have the scripture chapters, versus listed with the reading, so an individual can pull out the classical canonical format and compare OR even read those scriptures if they find the chronological style not as useful with times and works being done.

For instance if I was at a meeting and someone told me to open up Jeremiah 12:3 it would be easier to do that with a canonical Bible. I could still do that with this Bible by going to the Canonical Scripture Index at the end of the Bible to find what pages had that scripture. BUT it would be a lot faster in some situations just using the classic styling Bible’s for some uses, but I really really like this style for reading and understanding the scriptural story better.

Faults of This Bible

Faults with Reading this book are that the events are chronologically ordered by the events that happen not the time of the writing about the events. They tried to order the writer’s words by how they relate to when they were written, but there are reasons that I don’t agree with those orders. For book, story, and Bible readers there are ways to get more value out of the material as well as more understanding, at least from non-fictional materials.

That is a factor that readers’ can use to find MORE value from with the reading!

Enhanced Bible Reading Enjoyment for US ALL!!!

The Bible is a book covering a couple of thousands of years of history. For all of us with the multiple writers it means that the chronological telling can have many various forms that we can find and enjoy. I’m looking at buying versions that include archeological facts and details, different aspects of story sharing variables also. BUT it’s important for all scholarly readers to take the time to do more than just read a book, so that they can learn more than just how one telling of a story shares the words of the story.

Writers & Events Impact the Tales

For all books, like the Bible writers and events impact the details of what is told and how those details are shared.

For example the series of books, the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John about Jesus’ on earth were all recorded at different times and for different readers. There are different timelines of story that impact the connections with readers. So for my reading I’ll use a chronological telling at this time, with using understanding of the writings that may differ from others.

This, One Year, Bible has

  • MARK’s writing from about 55 to 65AD,
  • LUKE’s from 60AD,
  • MATTHEW’s from 60 to 65AD,
  • JOHN’s from 85 to 90AD…

The New World Translation timeline is different

  • MATTHEW’s writing completed in 41AD,
  • LUKE’s writing completed between 56 and 58AD,
  • MARK’s 60 to 65AD, and finally
  • JOHN’s ending at about 98AD.

This means reading understanding can differ based on opinions of when & why things were written.

I’m not going to historically tell you details of this info, but it’s useful to consider the various writing times as well as the different writer’s reasons for writing to the readers they were sharing with because of how this varies what they share, how they share it, it can also influence considerations of what was written when and how. In addition who the writer’s were & are influences the stories that they tell and how they tell them. Let me simplify this a bit with a modern example.

A- Simplified fictional modern example

If I were to witness a car accident, and Bill was we both are seeing things from our own views. If Melinda was in the accident and George also saw it from another perspective there are 4 views of the exact same event. All of us could have witnessed various aspects of the accident and that can mean that we tell the story of the accident with different details and views of what was seen.

  • If Melinda’s car had just come out of the shop being repaired.
  • If George saw a lug nut bouncing down the road., if
  • I had seen the tire hit hit the curb, while on the car, and
  • if Bill had thought he saw the driver driving weird

each of the perspectives are telling parts of the story. There’s more to the story based on what was happening when we were telling things and why we were telling things also.

So no story has a single way of being shared. For this means that the gospels also have alternate details and perspectives from both the writers and with the readers that can influence how the stories were shared and how the readers get those.

Additional Gospels in Perspectives

Let’s consider this from the version of story times I think is more accurate.

  • MATTHEW’s writing completed in 41AD,
  • LUKE’s writing completed between 56 and 58AD,
  • MARK’s 60 to 65AD, and finally
  • JOHN’s ending at about 98AD.

Matthew

MATTHEW as a Jew and a tax collector, was a person that kept accounts of things, which likely also means he took notes of stuff over time, and his accounts were some of the first in writing mainly because he was sharing with Jews the stories he had gathered with time. The Jews who came into contact with disciples of Jesus, those who were impacted by events with his death, those who witnessed his resurrection and many more likely had questions. Because he was writing within 10 years of Jesus’ death it’s assumed that a lot of his info could have been a compilation of his notes from events, but also this means those details could have been referenced by the other gospel writers.

Luke and Mark wrote their scriptural accounts about 15 to 20 years after Matthew.

Luke

It’s supposed that LUKE was writing material in a detailed manner that is often attributed to how as a physician he would be noting details of types related to physical aspects and results. Luke’s notice of physical aspects of people, the healing, and the details of those events can explain why he didn’t comment as much on the reactions of the crowds in many events. The aspects of this being shared by him 15 years after Matthew’s account also mean that the additional points and details are not only backing up Matthew’s account they are also reinforcing aspects of the story as well as adding details to what was shared.

Mark’s account came about 5 years later.

Mark

The account of MARK began to be shared in Rome. “According to ancient tradition, Mark’s gospel was first made public in Rome.” (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 1114, 1971). Mark likely spoke primarily with early Christians, partially because of his age with events from Jesus’ life, and because of how he related with the Christian church/ congregational/ organizational developments. Mark could have been “the young young man who escaped, partially naked, when Jesus was captured.” (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 1113; 1971). I assume from this that it’s likely he was a teenager, who got out of home, at night, went to the garden to spy on the events he caught ear of previously. Likely an uninvited guest of the events.

“Ancient tradition indicates that Peter provided the basic information for Mark’s Gospel..Although Mark appears to have written primarily for the Romans, this record does contain [info] from the Hebrew scriptures.” (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 1113; 1114, 1971). This is also likely to tell us that Mark’s words were written to people who grew up hearing of Jesus, but those who hadn’t witnessed much in accord with the events of Jesus being alive.

That shouldn’t be a surprise if this Mark’s “Hebrew name was John”. (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 1111, 1971). This also means that Mark was a Jew by birth. The people were distinct religiously in many ways…but the story was the same in many respects. Differences were from how people lived and what they believed as readers would have had an impact on how things were written in many ways.

John

The writings of John are totally distinct because what he wrote was after living times with the early Christians being killed and hurt from beliefs about the Christ and times they were living in. In addition John had witnessed the events of visions and more that caused him to write Revelation which means there is a lot of detail in his account of Jesus’ life that could have meant very little when being witnessed that may have had a lot of impact later after seeing, hearing, and witnessing things that had happened from beyond those events.

For instance John had likely spent a little time reading the events of Saul (Paul) who saw Jesus/Michael. In addition the details of John often had bits and parts that were missed by those living around Jesus and other gospel writers. These writings while from different people, written in different ways, aren’t written to be any more than what we read, but they are so much more.

B- Modern Example Detailed Some More

What if with our modern example more could be found from getting perspectives of the viewers of those events?

What if that car accident had more to show us?

“All of us could have witnessed various aspects of the accident and that can mean that we tell the story of the accident with different details and views of what was seen.” This also means we could tell of different aspects that pertain to the exact same event.

  • If Melinda’s car had just come out of the shop being repaired.

What if the shop had a new person, a kid, who had forgotten to bolt the tires onto the rims correctly? What if the shop owner hadn’t been in the shop, so the kid made the mistake of saying the car was ready to go without having made sure all the work details were finished accurately? So Melinda was driving down the road with a car that wasn’t working right?

  • If George saw a lug nut bouncing down the road.

George could have been seeing part of the incident before anything else that was major was witnessed by any other viewers. BUT Melinda was likely to have been trying to handle things as they were happening.

  • I had seen the tire hit hit the curb, while on the car.

Melinda had been working to get the car stopped safely, before the tire wobbled off the car. I didn’t know that, I could have assumed that she was drunk. The car is the proof of what has happened with this incident.

  • if Bill had thought he saw the driver driving weird.

Bill could have also thought that Melinda was driving drunkenly, but he could have seen more because he has more knowledge of cars and driving than I do.

CONCLUSION

“Each of the perspectives are telling parts of the story,” but there’s so much more that we have to be readers/ viewers using faith as well as knowledge to look beyond the surface of what is shared to find more in the events as they are shared.

This post is #1, I’m not sure if I’m going to add any more OR not, but I do have plans to get other Bible’s with other chronological ordering in addition to that I hope these Bible’s let me gain more insight into the events of the Bible that I will share…so for now enjoy your reading.

‘Heaven is for Real’ influences & YOU- #7 of 7

‘More, well what more could you be talking about?’

The time as a door greeter at Walmart led to many conversations, that I think helped contribute to movies that have been produced. The movie Noah,’ ‘Tangled,’ and ‘Heaven is for Real’ are the last three, I think, I influenced.

In fact the woman that mentioned the boy came back to the store with the young man and his mother and I asked him questions, he gave me some vague responses.  And his mother mentioned that he had been drugged quite a bit during the surgery, so the family is not sure the recollections are correct.

But the faith of this one young man and his family have inspired a deeper look at the heavens by our world.

Another Godly view.

Another Godly view.

The young man I met was about 8 years old, and that is a little older than the young man described from the book in the movie. Later the pastor who is mentioned as writing the book and I had a conversation.

After informing me that he was just the pastor the young man had requested to share the story he commented on thoughts about the story for the book, and asked me, “Do you think it will be wrong to lie to people about his age?”

In response, to this pastor a customer “who is always right was,” I investigated with, “What do you think?!”

“I’m the minister and guide for my people, but I’m writing this story with the idea that it will become popular. With popularity problems can result!,” was the emphatic response.

His comment caused me to feel that he genuinely cared about this young man and his family. That he was showing fatherly love and consideration, when he was considering age and with this inquiry about age to me.

In response I said, “That’s good to think about, it’s wrong to lie, but it’s also wrong to harm others.  When a general thing like age, is being considered in this situation, harm and cost should also be thought about.  Who may be harmed with this lie?  Who can be harmed without this lie? If you tell the truth, will life be good for this young person in school and for life? Will his family suffer harm after people hear this personal experience? After the story becomes popular, will he be able to keep on learning, or will he be hassled because of his personal experiences? Could it even be better to alter his name, in the book, to protect him from undesirable attention? What is the more loving thing to do?”

“You’re right, I didn’t think of all that,” was his considering response.

“Did this help you make a decision?”

After motioning to the young man he said, “. . . We’ll have to talk this over.”

And I was left to continue sharing with my customers while their conversation took place at a slight distance from me. When they were done the pastor returned and told me of their decision.  Which I’m not sharing here. Because presently the work of this young man, his pastor, his family and other God loving people has brought about more results. The world has available the movie ‘Heaven is for Real’to watch in theaters.

This story should lead others to continue contemplating, looking and reading because a lot can be hidden in the pages of a book.  In fact, I desire everyone to take on the reading of a fictionalized presentation of The Chronicles of Heaven’s War an epic beginning with Sisters of the Bloodwind, because this story has inspired me to share more love with the world.

Your own views are yours and telling you what to think is not my desire, but causing you to think and then act on those thoughts, because they hit your heart through thoughts in your head, is my desire.

Read and see if this doesn’t inspire thee!!!

‘Heaven is for Real’ . . . fictionalized- #6 of 7

A golden blond Jesus with blue-green eyes is shared as one of the people met by a young boy who visits heaven during a near death experience.   ‘Heaven is for Real’ could be fictionalized, but having such a young person affirm this as reality will hopefully open up others hearts and minds to a deeper tale told.

The story I’m talking about is an epic that begins with book 1 in The Chronicles of Heaven’s War: Sisters of the Bloodwind.  This book was originally written under the book title The Chronicles of Heaven’s War: When General’s Cry, and it was originally published in 2003 with the most recent edition being published in eBook format in 2011.  My hope is that the increase in belief of the realities of heaven as portrayed in the movie ‘Heaven is for Real’ will cause people to search for more.

For me this interest started long ago, but the drive to really contemplate God and the heavens came with personal experiences added to with stories told by author Ava D. Dohn.  And that interest added to my conversations with customers while working at Walmart in Hornell, NY .  Before becoming a door greeter I’d been a floor associate, electronics associate, and cashier.  My interactions as a door greeter were done to motivate and inspired other people to grow and gain a desire to know more.

2 Jesus- Mihai- blue green eyes

Not only that I think it inspired movies like ‘Heaven is for Real.’ One of the reasons for this belief is because my love based actions and conversations which caused others to desire to share with the world as I was trying to do.  Experiences during those times at the door specifically lead to the words I’ve shared and am continuing to share about this movie.

Jesus with golden hair is a description talked about in a previous post and beyond that ideas for the film were discussed.  Other posts share some details of those talks.  But things went further once interest was developed and devised.  In fact that man that had conversed with me about Jesus and the golden hair came back in later and asked about Jesus’ eyes.

Well at that time I hadn’t read Sisters of the Bloodwind recently, so I commented, “Blue, no green, blue, oh I can’t remember.  One has blue eyes, one has green eyes.”

He took those words, and imitating my combination of words said, “Blue-green, I like that.”

“Green-blue.  No you’re right blue-green sounds better.”

He stepped back and away a bit and said, “So blue green it is,” and with a turn he walked away as I waved and said goodbye.

But more happened, and that’s why I started this spiel about the movie ‘Heaven is for Real.’

‘Heaven is for Real’ the new movie- #5 of 7

Jesus in heaven ‘a blond?’

Well that is the description shared in ‘Heaven is for Real’the movie released April 16, 2014. According to radio commentators and personal research on the internet Jesus is not only blond in heaven, but Jesus also has blue green eyes.

Those commenting, on that fact, seemed very surprised, but I’m not.

Why?

Because with my reading of Sisters of the Bloodwindby author Ava D. Dohn and the talking done with customers at Walmart in Hornell, NY as a door greeter, from 2008 till 2010, causes me to think that I helped inspire that picture. The conversations shared in previous posts under this theme continued.

My desire to draw people toward loving God caused me to talk to ones who demonstrated not only a willingness to listen, but also desired to gain more knowledge and insight.

Double rainbow evening

In fact during one conversation about, my view of, the reality of the heavens a man or woman commented, please forgive me for not remembering which, “What do you want to do to help people love God more?”

In responding motion for our present was defined, at least that’s what I believe, “Well, I think films/movies get more response than books do in our present technological age, and because of that the story I’ve read inspires me, others should read it to so they’ll have a reason to fall in love with the people in the heavens. But I think films are a way to get people interested in the book. Because books always hold more details so even the best of films only work as advertisement for the books. But most people don’t read books so a film could inspire more reading.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Because there are hundreds or thousands of people leaving this store with DVD’s each week versus the hundred or so with books. Now that’s just my perception [found with being a door greeter, cashier, book reader, and electronics associate], but take a look at the size of our book section in this store! Then compare that to the size of the DVD section in electronics. They are both entertainment, but people go into electronics and spend money on movies that they just don’t spend on books.”

When that comment was made a brand new hardcover at Walmart was about $17.99 in price versus a new release DVD without extras for $21.99. And in the Hornell, NY store at that time there was about 28 linear feet of shelving for all books, while there was between 144 and 160 feet of linear shelf space for DVD’s.

My customer questioned me with words similar to those here, “What type of story do you think will inspire people to search further for the heavens?”

After pausing to think for a moment, I responded, “A real life story, one that would be believed because the teller was young or a religious minister. It should be real, it should be truthful, but it should also be a vision of heaven.”

“A vision of heaven?”

After some slight consideration, my response was, “I think I may have when I was young, but I’m too old for someone to think I’m not crazy . . .”

That train of speech was interrupted by a woman with the comment, “I heard about a boy who had an experience.”

Asking her about what she knew caused her to say, “I’m not sure; I’ll have to ask him.”

The woman’s comment may have inspired more movie plans in the mind of my conversationalist because there was more interaction between us, in following talks, but it was centered more and more on bringing the reality of the heavens to people through film.

The movie ‘Heaven is for Real’ is told as a true story, I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m thinking Jesus is female in that movie. So not only golden blond, with blue-green eyes, but also female is my conjecture about Jesus as shared in that movie presently.

I’ll see it eventually, for me it would be sad to me if the movie doesn’t share the reality of my discussions because of fear of standards defined by man.

‘Heaven is for Real’ was inspired- #4 of 7

‘How can I say that the movie ‘Heaven is for Real’ was inspired by thoughts and comments I shared as a door greeter in the Hornell, NY, Walmart store?’

The question, “Have you seen any of these perfect people?  What do they look like?” from an individual who had heard my reasoning on the age of those in the heavens, leads to answer for the first question here, and caused me to respond emphatically, “NO!”

“So how would you describe them?,” was the following inquest.

My response was tinged with the tenor of hope and intrigue, “Adam and Eve were created, ‘male and female’ our creator made them.  And according to Genesis, they ‘were created in their image.'”

An emphatically nodding head, and an opening mouth caused me to pause.

While my customer spoke, “There are males and females in heaven?”

“That’s just my reasoning on the scriptures I shared with you.”

“So how would you describe people in heaven?”

My answer in accord with the descriptions shared by author Ava D. Dohn, in Sisters of the Bloodwind came out in accord with this comment, “I’m familiar with descriptions of some who have envisioned heaven and the people there but you can read those descriptions for yourself.”

“Is there a description of Jesus?”

“Yes.”

“So describe Jesus for me?”

“You are probably imagining Jesus as dark haired, lean, but strong, with dark eyes, and being male?  Aren’t you?” was my responding inquiry.  In a desire to insight more inquiry, as so not to offend, I also asked, “What do you think? Now remember Jesus came to earth, as Mary’s child, but returned to the original home in the heavens, so doesn’t necessarily look like what pictures all show,” was my hopefully thought provoking response.

The comment returned was a softly questioning, “Blond . . .”.

And the hesitating response and my excitement caused me to burst out, That’s right.”  But after a small pause continued with, “You’re right, at least that’s how the book I’ve read describes the Messiah.”

Jesus the king displayed in Sorrento, Italy at a Catholic church located on Corsa Italia.

Jesus the king displayed in Sorrento, Italy at a Catholic church located on Corsa Italia.

In response to my excitement the comment came, “You know in Italy Jesus is shown in some churches as blond?”

“I thought I heard that . . .” and we continued on discussing multiple topics.

Last year, 2013 while taking a semester abroad I visited a couple of churches that displayed Jesus as blond.  And at a religious edifice in Naples, seen on a class field trip in January, Mary with baby Jesus were both displayed with golden blond hair.  So a blond Jesus isn’t really that abnormal, it’s just uncommon here in the U.S. with our Puritan and Latin American religious background.

According to  online and radio descriptions about the ‘Heaven is for Real’ movie Jesus is a blond that also has blue-green eyes, and this is something specifically said by me in a conversation somewhere between 2008 to 2010.

The movie ‘Heaven is for Real’ guides me- #3 of 7

I’m not writing here to take glory from the film, but my experiences cause me to see a lot and encourage a need to empower others in seeing more.  And truthfully what I share here is in accord with my line of thought, because the book I mention sometimes is one the author doesn’t want religious people to buy for religion.  But I share how much more I’ve fallen in love with the heavens and the people I relate to because of that book.

I never recollect exactly what has happened, but the movie ‘Heaven is for Real’continues to guide me through memories I’m giving here.  This along with a belief that sharing with others my love of God added to the love from reading Ava D. Dohn’s books, starting with the Sisters of the Bloodwind, a fiction, and its harmony in accord with the Bible helps me believe my distribution, of love and knowledge, helped inspire this movie.

One of the persons I had shared some beliefs with previously questioned me about heaven.

And I responded, “Well I think it’s very similar to earth, at least the home planet is. But I also believe that because everyone in the heavens is way older than us, they have traveled beyond the home planet into the universe of that realm, and its varying planets.”

“That’s profound, but could it be real?,” was the curious but slightly heated curious tone of the response.

Male + Female he created themSo continuing on with my reasoning based on words previously shared in this blog, I said, “Just consider what scripture in Genesis says, ‘We are created in their image,’ it continues relating that Adam and Eve sinned, were thrown out of the garden, but before that happened they were perfect. Just think about it, this happened at the beginning of human history, but the record in the Bible says that Methuselah lived to be ‘969’ years old, and Adam lived after sinning 930 n- some years. According to my reasoning, the people in the heavens are older than us, and we are created in their image, this then means there are many if not all who are older than the earth itself.”

“That makes sense,” was the curiously investigative trend of response.

This caused me to continue with words, similar to the following, “That also means that we ‘male and female’ are created like them, then these perfect people, un-ageing, and very educated at least with age, are much more than basic glo-globs’s of power and energy. For being perfect as a human means to me that I’m physically perfect, but I’m also myself, making mistakes, overthinking things, getting hurt because I just wasn’t being wise. Perfect as in my body repairs itself, doesn’t grow old, but does age at least with wisdom and experience.”

This response caused consideration to rise on the face of the person I was talking to. And in our vicinity were others who heard what was being said. And more questions ended up following.

Which lead me to the ‘Heaven is for Real’movie.

The ‘Heaven is for Real’ supposed reality- #2 of 7

Heaven is for Real’ is supposedly based on a real life story, but more happened while I was at Walmart  leading me to conclude that the whole tale is not actually truthful.  This doesn’t mean that this young gentlemen, the story author, didn’t experience a heavenly occasion, but I think details have been added that he didn’t see.

‘Like what?’

While working customers shared in thoughts and ideas with me.  Sometimes comments about faith and love were made, by my people, because a loving display was noticed.

One time I commented about my desire to bring love for God to all mankind in response to an inquiry.

The person being talked with questioned, “How?”

God's finger + a heavely view

A heartfelt response followed, “I’m not really sure, but I do know that heaven is real, and if heaven is real God is real, and if God is real ALL people should be able to feel and understand the reality of God and the other people in the heavens.”

The stiffening shoulders, furled eyebrow, and questioning gaze of this listener caused me to continue, “’We are created in God’s image,’ at least according to the scriptures in Genesis.  And the Bible also mentions that there is war taking place in that area.  At least that’s how I perceive some words in Daniel.”

That talk concluded when the customer left the store.  But on returning, at a later time, the conversation continued with them mentioning that the scriptures shared, previously, had been reviewed and then their appreciation for my words to them was shared.

After asking about details of our previous conversations I led into a continuation of thought.  “So for me that means there are people battling for righteousness and freedom which people on earth don’t even think about.   We consider God and the angels as superior beings, but even though they are without inherit sin the people in the heavens aren’t machines, the LIVE.”

And the interested querying face caused me to proceed with that line of thought.  “Before the flood, if you read Genesis 6 you’ll find the words [similar to these] sharing that ‘the thought [of the sin and horror upon the earth at that time] hadn’t even been contemplated by God.’  God is the ‘Alpha and the omega,’ but God is growing with life and alterations that happen with life.”

“What?”

“‘ Thought never rose up into the heart of God,’ the thought of rebellion, sin, hatred, wasn’t even felt by God, the mind of God by the time of the rebellion before the flood never had considered the evil actions that happened.  That means God learned.”

“You know I never thought of that before,” or words very similar was the response from that person.  Then their body language conveyed the question, ‘where do these thoughts come from?’

As they were edging toward the door, I could tell that their time at Walmart was done for that day, so I said, “Please have a great day, and feel free to look up those words in Genesis 6 about God’s thinking if you want to.  Especially since I never quote word perfectly.”

And upon exiting these words were heard, “I will!  Thank you.”

Multiple public conversations and my marketing scheme for a book that is  fiction but shares a story that caused me to try leading others to go beyond the structured thinking religions have defined.  Some of those ideas, in my opinion, helped inspire the movie ‘‘Heaven is for Real.’’  Hopefully sharing with you will cause curiosity to rise up in your heart to seek out more inspiration.

The ‘Heaven is for Real’ movie and I- #1 of 7

The ‘Heaven is for Real’ movie and I are acquainted.

How so?

Hornell Walmart- summer 2008

Well I worked as a door greeter at Walmart in Hornell, NY from 2008 to 2010. While at the door my work was inspired by the desire to share with people love. Love for the unknown and under-appreciated. Love for the people who battle for righteousness and universal freedom.   This love caused me to try to make people feel appreciated, cared for, and it caused me to talk about people I’ve come to love the most.

What is interesting is that conversations would sometimes take twists and turns because I didn’t ever try to make people believe what I said. I just tried to encourage them to think. This involved listening, commenting on what was said, and inserting thoughts and ideas that could encourage their minds and hearts to change.

During one conversation I mentioned my belief in heaven and the people that live there.  Those people being different from the majority of the world but very similar to us in many respects.

He queried with, “What do you mean?”

I responded with, “Well for many of us we see God and angels as glo-globs of energy with no definition other than commanding power, law & authority and very little personality.”

The man had been nodding his head during my words and in my guesstimation, his nodding was because of relating to what was said.  Sort of like I was speaking truth and he concurred with my conjecture.

His expressions inspired my following response, with similar words, “My view of God is based on a slight understanding of the Bible and some of the creation account in Genesis.”  Because of a fear of offending the man, a customer, with one of the two forbidden public conversations, politics and religion I personalized my comment. These were my words, “In the description of creation, Genesis chapter 1 or 3, but I think its chapter 3 we’re told, “‘…and they [humans] were created in their image.’ According to my interpretation, that means we are like God, God is like us.” Observing the skeptical questioning on his face I continued, “The scriptures describe God as our ‘father in the heavens’ . . . they mention that ‘his eyes are upon us’.  What does that sound like to you?”

He responded, “I think I remember reading those words, but I never thought of God as a person before.”

In encouragement I said to him, “Examine Genesis for yourself, because that’s what the Bible mentions.  Think about what we discussed and consider all the other times God is described as a physical being.”

He waved as he walked away with the kind of carriage that caused me to think he was accepting and curious.

Well time continued to pass. And once in a while in-depth conversations like the one, described, here continued to happen.

Presently having seen and heard ads for the new movie ‘Heaven is for Real,’ causes me to recollect even more . . .
